Global Girl Leaders Unite at Model United Nations Conference in Mexico
In 2024, the Trust developed a partnership with Colegio Carol Baur School in Mexico and students from the school joined our Global Girl Leading Summit. The school then invited our students to their international Model United Nations conference, BIMUN, and eight students visited Mexico City in March. BIMUN simulates the work of the United Nations, and our students debated the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals in committees. Students were able to see how the United Nations operates through simulations, and learn about global issues, diplomacy, and how countries work together. Students reflected that this experience helped them improve their skills in research, public speaking, and teamwork. Besides the conference, students spent time exploring the culture of Mexico through activities such as visiting the pre-Aztec pyramids of Teotihuacan and the National Museum of Anthropology. Students also had the opportunity to stay with host families, which enabled them to broaden their perspectives and develop a greater understanding of the world around them.
