Mulberry Schools Foundation’s first International Study Tour sets off to Singapore and Malaysia

Ten students and three staff members have set off on Mulberry Schools Foundation’s first international study tour to Singapore and Malaysia. Their focus is women’s leadership and voice.

The tour will include meetings with the British High Commissioners for Singapore and Malaysia and the Malaysian Deputy Minister for Women. The group will visit a number of schools and colleges meeting very different needs and students will lead leadership workshops there. The group will also meet several young people’s campaigning and advocacy networks.

Two new Trustees for Mulberry Schools Foundation

Two new Trustees, Jo Armitage and Antonio Carlo, will join the Board of Mulberry Schools Foundation this month.

Jo has 38 years’ education experience including headship. She left Mulberry Schools Trust in the summer after five years’ senior leadership. Antonio Carlo is Financial Controller for EMEA Smart Mobility, part of the Ford Motor Company, and brings significant relevant financial expertise to the Foundation.

Mulberry School Foundation has been successfully incorporated as a Charitable Company limited by guarantee.

 

Mulberry Schools Foundation Chair of Trustee Board announced

Mary Groom, recently retired solicitor, partner and Head of the Education Group at law firm Bates Wells Braithwaite, will be Mulberry Schools Foundation’s first Chair of Trustees.

She begins her three year term this week. A specialist in both charity and education law, she developed BWB’s Education Group which was rated in the top tier of the legal directories. She also set up the BWB Education Forum which reviewed and influenced government policy at the interface of law and education.

Mulberry Schools Foundation hosts its first “Partnership of Equals” conference

400 student delegates from London, Manchester and Somerset will take part in Mulberry Schools Foundation’s first “Partnership of Equals” Conference to be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in October.

The conference will explore issues of gender equality through the lens of the expressive arts. Contributors will include Grayson Perry, Carrie Cracknell, Matthew Bourne and Shami Shakrabati.

Jude Kelly takes up the first Thought Leader residency with Mulberry Schools Foundation

Jude Kelly, CEO of the Women of the World Foundation, has taken up a two-year Thought Leader residency with Mulberry Schools Foundation.

Jude will lead a series of six events for Tower Hamlets students designed to challenge thinking about gender equality.
