Global MUN experience in Venice
Students from Mulberry Schools Trust travelled to Venice, Italy, for the Global Girl Leading International Study Tour, where they immersed themselves in the city’s rich history, culture, and unmistakable beauty. The group was warmly welcomed by students and staff from Liceo Marco Foscarini, their hosts for the week.
Throughout their stay, students embraced every aspect of this unique experience, from navigating the canals by boat to crossing Venice’s iconic historic bridges. The programme offered a wealth of enriching opportunities, including a visit to St Mark’s Square, where they admired the grandeur of one of Europe’s most celebrated landmarks, followed by an inspiring trip to the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art.
No visit to Venice would have been complete without sampling the local cuisine, and students thoroughly enjoyed trying gelato, pizza, and pasta along the way.
The tour proved to be a fantastic few days of learning, exploration, and shared experiences, culminating in attendance at the FOSCAMUN conference. This was an exciting and highly enriching event, bringing together delegates from South Africa, Japan, Germany, and Italy, and creating a vibrant international atmosphere.
Students engaged passionately in debates on a wide range of global issues, demonstrating impressive knowledge, confidence, and teamwork. They drafted and presented well-structured resolutions and responded brilliantly to challenging questions from fellow delegates. Notably, two students were awarded prizes in their committee, the Security Council, which debated the Middle Eastern conflict.
Overall, the Venice experience was a resounding success, showcasing the students’ enthusiasm, maturity, and commitment throughout. They proved to be outstanding ambassadors for GGL, representing their schools with pride, professionalism, and distinction.
